When Keith Haring and William S. Burroughs collaborated on a monumental Apocalypse series, they were tapping a dark vein of Eighties angst, shared by Basquiat, Longo, Sherman, Schnabel, Lemieux, Holzer, Wojnarowicz and other art stars of the decade. There's a reason why the powerful exhibition at the Nassau Museum curated by Eric Fischl culminates with Haring. Join museum director Charles Riley for a tour of the end of time as envisioned not just by Eighties artists but such masters as Bosch, Rodin, Michelangelo, and Leonardo.
Charles Riley II is the director of the Nassau County Museum of Art, an arts journalist, curator and professor at Clarkson University. He graduated from Princeton and received his Phd from City College of New York.
Think Olio is here to put the liberation back into the liberal arts.
